I never knew plastic shower curtains could be thrown in the washer until college. But guess what? You can throw plastic shower curtains in the washer. Then just hang them back up to dry.

My dad, of all people, taught me this. To help prevent soap scum buildup in a porcelain tub, apply a light coat of boat or car wax to the sides of the tub (never on the bottom). It also keeps hard water stains off of glass shower doors.

I found out the hard way that marble countertops stain easily, so wipe spills immediately and always dry them to prevent water spots. Also, don’t use vinegar or orange-based cleaners to clean them. The acid in them will damage the surface. But peroxide is safe for stain removal.
