I clumsily dropped one of those really sticky glue sheet bug traps onto my carpet (sticky side down). And of course, that area of the carpet is grabbing every particle of dirt and turning black. Any idea how on earth I can remove the glue residue from the carpet? Help! Thanks

Hi Megan,
We had to seek the advice of Merry Maids' partner brand, ServiceMaster Clean to answer your question since they specialize in residential carpet cleaning. The experts at ServiceMaster Clean say there are several products at the hardware store that can assist you with this cleaning project. Products like Goo Gone or other solvents can help remove the sticky residue left on your carpet. You may start with a regular household product like rubbing alcohol first, if you like.
Work in small sections rubbing the solvent into the carpet and use a soft LINT-FREE cloth, (a scrubbing microfiber cloth would work great) to pick up the sticky gunk as it comes up. Keep using clean areas of the cloth and you may have to use more than one cloth.
The next step is to remove the product you use and any remaining dirt. Steam cleaning would be great for this, but you may use a gentle soap and warm water to soak up any remaining product and let dry. For more information contact your local ServiceMaster Clean.
Thanks
Merry Maids
